Dodgers Injury News: Joe Kelly On the Mend After Bullpen Session in LA
The Dodgers have been without the services of Joe Kelly for the last few weeks while the veteran right-hander deals with inflammation in his forearm. When he hit the injured list back on August 13th, it came with a little bit of pushback from the pitcher. But the Dodgers exercised caution in making sure he had time to get right for the postseason.
On Friday, Kelly took his next step toward his return with a 20 pitch bullpen session at Dodger Stadium that had manager Dave Roberts feeling positive.
“He used all of his pitches. He touched 96-97 (mph), I think. It was really good. Command was really good.”
Notably, this isn’t Kelly’s first bout with forearm inflammation this season. He missed about 20 days in July before being traded by the White Sox back to LA. The reliever got into 4 games with the Dodgers before hitting the IL again, allowing just one hit over 3.2 innings.
Barring any setbacks, the bullpen could welcome Kelly back into the mix some time during the upcoming east coast road trip.
