Dodgers Injury News: RHP Tyler Cyr Set to Begin Rehab Assignment

Dodgers reliever Tyler Cyr is on the road to return. The right-hander briefly appeared with the club back in May before landing on the 15-day injured list with a shoulder impingement. He was later transferred to the 60-day IL when the club needed to make use of his roster spot for the return of Alex Vesia.

Not much has been heard about Cyr since then. On Saturday, that changed.

According to his player page on mlb.com, the reliever is beginning a rehab assignment with the Arizona Complex League Dodgers today where he’s expected to pitch an inning for the rookie-level team. Considering he’s been out for nearly two and a half months, he’ll likely need a few weeks on rehab before being ready to officially join a roster.

Depending on the state of the Dodgers’ MLB roster at the time, it’s more likely that he’ll be optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City at the end of his rehab stint.

Cyr appeared in two games for LA this season, tossing 1.2 scoreless innings. At AAA, he had a 4.86 ERA over 15 appearances.
