Dodgers: Justin Turner, Austin Barnes and the Team’s Fantasy Football League
The Dodgers have had a very competitive and well-documented fantasy football league over the last few years. There are a ton of guys who want to play, and major bragging rights (and I’m sure a hefty prize) for the winning team.
Despite their busy schedules of actively playing in a record-breaking Major League season, the guys on the team take it pretty seriously.
Justin Turner spoke about the league on the Chris Rose Rotation and shared with him who takes the league most seriously. And, honestly, it’s not much of a surprise.
“Austin Barnes. He’s 24/7 nonstop,” Turner said. “Guy’s insane about fantasy football. And he’s 0-3 so he is not a happy man right now… He’s sent out about 400 trade offers already. He’s just trying to completely blow up his team right now. Like full panic, so it’s great.”
Turner also talked about his team, which, as a fan of the Dolphins, features Miami’s Jaylen Waddle, Mike Gesicki, and their defense. But he said his team, which he co-owns with the team’s strength coach Brandon McDaniel, got a nice boost at the MLB trade deadline.
“We picked up Joey [Gallo] late because obviously Joey got traded over at the deadline and he’s actually very knowledgable,” Turner said. “Very good input in talking about decisions and what’s going on. I enjoy his takes.”
It’ll be interesting to see who comes out on top this year. But I’m sure it’ll be a much sweeter win if that player is also coming off a World Series title a couple of months prior.
