Dodgers’ Key Piece of Tyler Glasnow Trade Suffers Unfortunate Injury

Former Dodgers outfielder Jonny DeLuca has suffered an unfortunate injury this spring. The young outfielder traded to the Tampa Bay Rays in the Tyler Glasnow deal has suffered a broken right hand after being hit by a pitch, and will likely miss at least four to six weeks.

This is a huge blow for DeLuca, who was hoping to get a bigger opportunity in Tampa than he would have in Los Angeles.

DeLuca was traded alongside Ryan Pepiot for Glasnow and Manuel Margot, who the Dodgers later traded to make room for Kiké Hernández.

DeLuca made his MLB debut with the Dodgers in 2023, and appeared in 24 games, slashing .262/.311/.429 with two home runs and six runs batted in.

In seven spring training games this year in Tampa, he was 4-for-13 (.308) with a run batted in and a walk. Now, he’ll be sidelined to open the 2024 season.
