Dodgers’ Miguel Rojas Addresses Hateful Comments From Yankees’ Jazz Chisholm

New York Yankees third baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. was involved in a heated exchange with Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Miguel Rojas and publicly labeled Rojas as “not a good person” during spring training while with the Miami Marlins.

In response to his former Miami teammate’s comments, Rojas shared his thoughts in an exclusive interview with The New York Post.

“I don’t really pay much attention to people’s opinions, other than people I really care about,” Rojas told The Post. “I can’t really tell you anything about his opinions because I don’t take his opinions the way he was talking.

“I feel like I know my value,” Rojas added. “And I know what I bring to a team. Nobody needs to reinforce that.”

Chisholm raised several issues while being interviewed on The Pivot, including an incident where he claimed Rojas failed to wake him from a nap before a meeting. The current New York Yankees utility player also felt that Rojas and other veterans on the Marlins roster were not welcoming toward rookies.

In Miami, many viewed the conflict as a clash between the new school (Chisholm) and the old school (Rojas) rather than a simple good vs. evil scenario. Rojas reportedly didn’t appreciate Chisholm’s flashy style, especially during tough times for the team.

While Rojas and a few other veterans attempted to rein in Chisholm’s exuberance, he clearly felt that Rojas overstepped his bounds. Although Chisholm hinted in spring training that Rojas had a negative impact on his time in Miami, he avoided directly discussing their issues when asked about it during the World Series.

When Chisolm was asked about the feud before Game 1 of the World Series, he mentioned that the two players have not spoken since their time in Miami together and he doesn’t plan on bringing it up.

“Like I said, I have nothing about it,” he said. “I go out there, I play baseball, and I’m enjoying baseball. Nothing more, nothing less.”

Since Rojas came back to the Dodgers, he has been an important piece of the clubhouse and is far from what Chisolm described him as in Miami. The Yankee third baseman said Rojas was “not a good captain, not a good person, not even a good athlete at this point.”

There is no love lost between the two and Rojas is enjoying every second of being a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
