Dodgers News: AL Starting Pitcher Has Special Request for Clayton Kershaw
The All-Star Game is pretty special for a lot of reasons. Not only do fans get to see the game’s best and brightest share the field, but it allows for players to relax and show some personality. We’ve already seen a lot of that with the HR derby and players hanging out together. We’ll get to see Dodgers players doing that tonight.
But this story from Rays’ pitcher Shane McClanahan is pretty awesome. The All-Star lefty is the American League starter for Dusty Baker this year. He will get to take the mound and face off against one of his all-time favorite players: Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw.
From the Tampa Bay Times, McClanahan plans on bringing a Clayton Kershaw jersey from home and getting him to sign it. Given the guy that he is, it seems more than likely that the Dodgers southpaw would oblige.
“Monday afternoon brought the news that he will get the opportunity to take the mound at Dodger Stadium, opposed by one of his favorite players, Dodgers left Clayton Kershaw. McClanahan said last week that he planned to bring a Kershaw jersey he had at home to the game to get signed.”
It’s a pretty special game, what with Kershaw getting his first Mid-Summer Classic start. But this added storyline just makes things so much better. Dodgers fans have to be incredibly excited to watch how this all plays out.
Keep an eye out for the social media accounts for the Rays and Dodgers. If he does get it signed, it’s sure to be up there somewhere.
