Dodgers News And Rumors: Paco Rodriguez Recalled From Triple-A
[new_royalslider id=”30″]
After appearing in just eight games with the Los Angeles Dodgers this season, Paco Rodriguez was somewhat surprisingly optioned to Triple-A when a roster spot needed to be cleared for Brian Wilson. Before becoming fatigued down the stretch, Rodriguez served as a valuable lefty out of the bullpen last season and had carried over similar success into 2014.
Along with losing a reliever who had been useful, the decision to option Rodriguez resulted in J.P. Howell being the lone lefty in the bullpen. As the Dodger bullpen has struggled to protect leads, some reinforcement in the form of Rodriguez was added to the roster on Tuesday.
Two days after recalling utility man Carlos Triunfel, the Dodgers optioned the infielder back down to Triple-A and recalled Rodriguez. With the Dodgers potentially set to play a day-night doubleheader on Thursday, Rodriguez is a fresh arm that will be at Mattingly’s disposal.
