Dodgers News And Rumors: Puig Wins Award; OF May Still Be Traded
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig was named the 2013 Daily News’ Los Angeles Sportsman of the Year for his rookie season that helped turn the Dodgers from a last place team to National League West champions.
Puig was grateful for the award and thanked the fans of Los Angeles for their support. The 23-year-old was runner-up in the NL Rookie of the Year vote after hitting .319 with 19 home runs and 42 RBI in 104 games for the Dodgers.
Also, the Dodgers may still decid to trade away one of their four outfielders and it could be between Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier. Teams are interested in seeing Kemp’s recovery from ankle surgery to potentially work a deal for the outfielder or a healthy Kemp in the spring could make Ethier expendable.
The Dodgers could make a move for a middle infielder or prospects to replenish the farm system.
