Dodgers News: Andrew Friedman Believes A Number Of Guys Can Be Closers

A good problem to have is having too many options to choose from. It seems the Dodgers have talent all around the roster yet choosing a closer is not something  Dodgers President of Operations Andrew Friedman, and the team, are ready to finalize yet.

Despite not knowing, Friedman feels confident that there are a number of guys to choose from and all have the capability of bringing their own “stuff” into the equation. A lot can happen during the course of a postseason with roles being filtered out throughout the lineup.

It seems like a strange idea considering how well the Dodgers have done with their normal lineups, but whatever it takes to win is the ultimate goal.

With the pitching rotation the Dodgers have played due to injuries all season long, the level of concern becomes higher due to the implications of the postseason. The projected starters Clayton Kershaw, Julio Urias, and Tyler Anderson have done what’s needed, but it remains to be seen how Tony Gonsolin and Dustin May will be utilized.

Gonsolin and May will likely take lesser roles as they look to get their groove before heading deeper into the postseason allowing for different bullpen and closer rotations.

Whatever needs to be done for Dave Roberts and Friedman to be comfortable with their rotation moving forward will likely cause a stir with Dodgers fans. The schedule only gets harder through the rounds so the Dodgers just need to continue taking it one game at a time to reach the finish line.
