Dodgers News: Blake Treinen Isn’t Anywhere Close to Ready

We’re closing in on almost 4 months since Blake Treinen has appeared in a game. The Dodgers reliever last threw on April 14th against the Reds before a shoulder issue shut him down. Originally not listed as a serious injury, it has completely shut him down.

Treinen has slowly progressed to throwing on the field and mixing in a bullpen, but there have been very few updates on him. And with the Dodgers bullpen, struggling and in dire need of assistance, his absence has been noticed.

But it sounds like he’s still a ways off. On Tuesday afternoon, Dave Roberts said he’s not even really close to throwing to hitters. The Dodgers skipper also added that a late-August return was more of the timeline he was looking at.

“I think with Blake, it’s going to be a couple of weeks before he gets to face hitters. …there’s no setback, but it’s more in the vein of making sure we just take our time. I still think maybe more late August kind of situation, but if he keeps passing these markers it could be sooner.”

That’s a big blow to this team. But the Dodgers getting him back for October is the most important thing right now. They won’t risk injury again by rushing him back.

Walker Buehler is also making progress from his injury. The Dodgers hurler has been out of action since June with a forearm strain, and he finally picked up a ball on Monday afternoon. he is hoping to be back by mid-to-late September, meaning he could be a huge addition for the postseason run.
