Dodgers News: Clayton Kershaw Exits With Injury

The Dodgers and Giants are playing the final game of their series this afternoon in the Bay Area. With Los Angeles looking for another 4-game sweep, they sent out Clayton Kershaw to the mound. He got through 4 innings of work before coming out of the game.

Kershaw threw some  warm-up pitches before the training staff came out to get him. The Dodgers pitcher seemed to indicate that it was his back flaring up, and the team immediately took him from the game. He had given up 1 earned runs and punched out 4 batters.

Later in the game, the Dodgers stated that they’ve characterized the injury as “lower back pain”.

There are a few reasons why Dodgers fans should feel very good about the Joey Gallo trade. For one, getting a player out of New York is sure to be good for mental health. But the peripheral numbers suggest that Gallo is just a small adjustment away from locking in.

  1. I know, I know, we have pitchers coming back, but…………how effective will they be. I haven’t seen any reports on who we offered in talks with the Reds for Castillo. He would have been a nice catch considering we sent Mitch White off who did a decent job for the Dodgers. as the saying goes; prior proper planning prevents piss poor performance.

On another note/observation, every time Kimbrel comes in the game, I get a sinking feeling. I wonder how many 1, 2, 3 innings he has had this year?

  2. Maybe, kinda looking like we should have picked up another pitcher that can go 5+ instead of standing pat? We either get some injured guys back pronto, or pencil in more bull pen games, or alternately go all in on Billy Martin baseball and just burn up some of the remaining arms until they fall off.

  3. Hopefully he can come back in a few days. We should be getting Dustin May back soon that will help more

  4. Vin Scully was the best lip reader and would have seen easily that Kershaw said it his back. But living in the Bay Area and being forced to listen to kiper and Krukow who couldn’t figure out if Kershaw was coming out because he was hurt (which was obvious)
