Dodgers News: Clayton Kershaw Only Focusing on Winning and None of the ‘Personal Stuff’

There are a lot of question marks for Dodgers pitchers once the offseason hits.

The biggest question to be answered will be the future of Clayton Kershaw. The Dodgers signed a one-year deal last offseason that is going to expire.

He will be hitting free agency again, but as he gets older, no one is sure he will sign another deal.

Throughout the season, Kershaw has hinted at retirement. The 35-year-old has been dealing with injuries for the past couple of years and had a stint on the injured list this season.

Although there are many rumors circulating around Kershaw about his future, his focus for the rest of the season remains on the team and winning.

“It’s just all about trying to win this year,” Kershaw said this week. “All the personal stuff is kind of out the door. You just want to be a part of this year, winning the World Series. It’s either gonna be disappointing or it’s gonna be great. Then we’ll go into the offseason.”

Kershaw has been a key part of the Dodgers winning ways this season. When he has pitched, he has been one of the best pitchers in the team’s rotation.

On the year he is 12-4 with a 2.52 ERA. If he didn’t spend so much time on the IL with a shoulder injury, he would have the second-lowest ERA in the league following Blake Snell.

There has been concern for Kershaw since he’s come off of the IL. His fastball velocity has been down and he hasn’t looked as dominant as he was before.

Although he hasn’t looked his best, Kershaw is still finding ways to win for the Dodgers.

Kershaw is a World Series Champion, former MVP and multiple-time Cy Young winner. If this is his last year, he is going to want another World Series to add to the collection.
