Dodgers News: Dave Roberts is Fine With LA Not Being ‘Favorites’ to Win

With the Dodgers’ quiet winter, many have been quick to count the Dodgers out this season. Several of the team’s players have previously been vocal about how confident they are in proving the naysayers wrong. Manager Dave Roberts also has made it clear that he is unfazed by any of the outside noise.

In a piece by MLB Insider Bob Nightengale, Roberts shared how he feels about others claiming the Dodgers are not the favorites to win this year

The Dodgers, for the first time in a decade may no longer be the overwhelming favorites to win the division.

“I don’t mind it. I think that the smartest people in the room know that you don’t win a postseason in the winter. So, a lot of teams are getting a lot of [attention], which is great, but I know our guys believe we still have a good ballclub.’’

“I think the expectations might be more tempered in the media or the industry, but I don’t think the players or anyone else in the organization doesn’t expect us to be the champions.’’

He added more to that thought, as reported by Fabian Ardaya.

The Dodgers continue to set the bar high, as they came out on top in 2020 and won the World Series. Despite losing talent in the seasons following their championship, LA still has a talented roster that includes stars such as Clayton Kershaw, Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, and a handful of talented prospects.

Because the Dodgers did not make a huge splash in acquiring big-name free agents, some are placing LA at a disadvantage to other teams such as their divisional rivals, the San Diego Padres.

Despite the doubt surrounding this year’s Dodgers team, LA is prepared to battle it out and prove why they are a winning franchise. Dave Roberts and his team are ready for the challenge.

  1. What is the purpose of having a reply or comment section if someone posts the truth, if their opinion is not to your liking or says something negative about the team, player or worse yet the lousy manager, you and your staff refuse to publish it. This forum is a complete JOKE !!
