Dodgers News: Dave Roberts Shares Special Message to Team Following NL West Winner

The Dodgers clinched the NL West division title for the 10th time in 11 years on Saturday with their win over the Seattle Mariners. It was a culmination of a strong season for LA, and a division title that didn’t come easy for them.

Unlike in years past, the Dodgers dealt with some major adversity along the way, but still managed to win the division by a very sizeable margin. It’s a testament to the entire LA organization, and how they have operated.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts spoke to his team after the win over Seattle and shared a heartfelt message to his guys.

“The thing about this ball club that separates any ball club in the big leagues right now is the persistence and the desire to play for each other. There’s no more talented group, there’s no more unselfish group that plays for one another. Hey, this is (celebration number) one. We’re gonna do this three more times, alright. Enjoy this moment because this is special, this is special, but let’s not forget who we are. And keep playing for each other.”

Roberts knows that this is only the beginning for this club, and he wants them to understand that. While they can celebrate this division win, they have bigger goals that are left to accomplish. LA has the tools to win the World Series this season, but they need to play up to their capability.

It won’t be easy for the Dodgers with how their starting rotation has shaped out over the year, but nothing has come east this season. They have pushed through everything that has come their way, and the playoffs will be no different.

Roberts is the ultimate players’ manager, and this is another example of that. He knows his guys very well, and this message likely means a ton to the guys in the locker room. But in order for the Dodgers to win the ultimate prize, they will need to all be working toward the collective goal together.

They have been fighting for this first goal, and now they have it. But with the real games coming up soon, the level of focus needs to be even stronger going forward.
