Dodgers News: Emmet Sheehan May Stay in Rotation For Longer Than Expected
After two impressive starts to open his big league career, rookie Emmet Sheehan will be staying in the Dodgers rotation for at least another start. Manager Dave Roberts confirmed that the young pitcher has shown enough to be given another chance.
Dave Roberts said Emmet Sheehan will remain in the rotation for at least another turn. He also said to expect Michael Grove to pitch bulk innings Wednesday.

Over the course of his two starts, Sheehan has looked dominant. He has shown a calmness out on the mound and it has resulted in tons of success. He went six innings of no-hit ball against the San Francisco Giants in his debut and then followed that up by holding the defending-champion Houston Astros to just two runs over six innings of work.
With the way that he has performed, the Dodgers have no justifiable reason to send him back down to the minors. The team needs all the help that they can get in the pitching department at this time while they navigate through different injuries and inconsistencies from their staff.
For a guy that was essentially called up directly from Double-A without ever making a start for Oklahoma City, Sheehan has shown that he belongs in The Show. He has established himself as a prominent member of the staff in short order and the team has benefitted from it.
If Sheehan continues to produce effectively, he will be a mainstay in the rotation for the foreseeable future.
His next start comes Thursday in Colorado, as the Dodgers look to win the series after splitting the first two games. It will be a good test for Sheehan in the hitter-friendly ballpark that is Coors Field.
