Dodgers News: Freddie Freeman Out of WBC With Injury, Back With LA Getting Evaluated

Dodgers superstar first baseman Freddie Freeman is officially out of the World Baseball Classic, at least for their very important win-and-in game against Team Mexico on Wednesday. Freeman suffered some sort of hamstring injury in Tuesday’s game, and was immediately taken out of the game. After the game, Canada’s manager, Ernie Witt, said it was unlikely Freddie would be able to suit up today. On Wednesday morning, he confirmed Freeman would not be playing, and said he’s back with the Dodgers getting further tests (per Jorge Castillo of the LA Times).

Witt made it clear that the Dodgers made the decision to pull Freeman out of the tournament, which makes sense considering they’re paying him millions of dollars to suit up and help them win this season.

Hopefully this isn’t an injury that’s going to linger, but we’ll have to wait for an update from the team. Manager Dave Roberts is speaking to the media later today, so we’ll probably have an update then.

But for now, we know Freeman is done in the WBC, and is back with the Dodgers getting checked out. Let’s hope he’s okay!
