Dodgers News: Freddie Freeman Takes Home NL Player of the Week Award

Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Freddie Freeman took home the National League Player of the Week award for the first week of August.

Freeman had a dominant week, hitting .500/.536/.923 with two home runs, three stolen bases and an incredible eight runs.

It was another dominant week for the hottest hitter in baseball, who’s raised his average all the way up to .339 entering Monday with an OPS of 1.011.

Freeman won in the National League, while Astros Framber Valdez won in the American League for throwing a no-hitter.

Freeman is the second Dodger to win a Player of the Week award this year, joining Max Muncy who won for his dominant week in late April.

For Freeman, it’s his fourth Player of the Week award since joining LA, after winning three last season.

If Freeman continues to hit the ball the way he’s doing it right now, he could be in line for another award sooner rather than later.

Freeman is making a serious NL MVP case at this point in the year, so it’s nice for him to be rewarded for this run.
