Dodgers News: Injured RHP Jimmy Nelson Moving up to AAA on Rehab Assignment
Dodgers relief pitcher Jimmy Nelson is headed to Triple-A after appearing in four games in the Arizona Complex League during a rehab stint. Nelson was expected to be a contributor to the Dodger bullpen before beginning the season on the 15-day IL with right elbow inflammation.

In four games in the ACL, Nelson pitched four innings, giving up just two hits and no runs. The 34-year-old righty last saw major league action in 2021, when he pitched 29 innings and posted a 1.86 ERA and 0.93 WHIP.
The update is a positive sign for the Dodgers, who saw Nelson begin a rehab assignment in late April before ceasing play until returning to baseball June 10.
Nelson underwent Tommy John surgery in 2021, a historically difficult surgery from which to recover.
The return of Nelson to the mound would be a welcome sight for Dodger fans, as the bullpen looks to wake up from the nightmare that has been the 2023 season. The group owns the second-worst ERA in the league, with a team bullpen 5.04 ERA. With a flurry of injuries continuing to plague the bullpen, as well as simply poor play, the Dodgers are looking for anyone to step up to the mound and prove their merit in late-game situations.
If Nelson continues to progress through Triple-A, he could have that chance sooner rather than later.
