Dodgers News: Jason Heyward is Nowhere Near a Return

The Los Angeles Dodgers were hoping to at least get a visit from outfielder Jason Heyward while they visited Phoenix for three games against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

However, manager Dave Roberts told reporters that Heyward won’t be at Chase Field for a rematch of last season’s National League Division Series. Instead, he has been shut down from baseball activities for the time being with no timeline for a return.

The only prognostication Roberts offered was that it’s taking Heyward “longer than we all anticipated.”

Heyward, who was placed on the injured list with back tightness during the first week of the season still needs a rehab assignment before making a return to the big league lineup, but his temporary replacement — Andy Pages — is beginning to appear more permanent.

Pages got a hit in his first major league at-bat and has gone 14-for-47 with two home runs, eight runs batted in and 10 runs scored.
