Dodgers News: JD Martinez Scratched from Lineup in Rangers Finale

There was a late lineup change for the Dodgers just before the start of the series finale against the Texas Rangers as DH J.D. Martinez was scratched with tightness in his hamstring, according to Kirsten Watson on the game broadcast.

Will Smith got the start in place of Martinez at DH and Austin Barnes started behind the plate at catcher.

The move appears to be purely precautionary.

Martinez has been heavily involved in the action on this three city road trip, with 10 hits in 7 games including three multi-hit games. He was also the starting DH in the All Star Game last week, so he really hasn’t had much in the way of time off over the last few weeks.

The Dodgers expect Martinez back in the starting lineup on Monday back in Los Angeles against the visiting Toronto Blue Jays. He’s hitting .263 with 24 home runs and 73 runs batted in this season.
