Dodgers News: Joc Pederson Returns from Paternity List, Matt Beaty Sent to USC
Friday’s an off day for the Dodgers, but that doesn’t stop the moves from happening. Today the team announced that outfielder Joc Pederson had been activated from the paternity list. In a corresponding roster move, infielder Matt Beaty was optioned to LA’s alternate site at USC.

Pederson left the team on Sunday for undisclosed reasons and was officially added to the paternity list on Tuesday, spelling the news that he and wife Kelsey had welcomed their second child into the world.
On the season, Joc has played in 34 games, batting .184 with 6 home runs and 12 runs batted in mostly platoon work.
The Matt Beaty move comes as something of a surprise, but considering the team’s need for pitching in the upcoming stretch of games, losing a position player made the most sense. Moreover, with the general lack of at-bats to go around, Beaty has mostly been on the outside looking in.
In only 21 games this season, the 27-year-old has a .220 batting average with 2 home runs and 5 RBI. At the alternate site, he can make up for lost time with daily ABs.
