This week, all eyes in the baseball world were on the league as the foreign substance issue grows. And while the Dodgers are hoping that it doesn’t change things up too much for them, chances are baseball could look much different this time next week.
Let’s dive into some of the news from around the team this week!
Joc Pederson may no longer be with the Dodgers, but he looks like he’s trying to spark a rivalry with the Padres. Watch as he mocks Fernando Tatis Jr’s homerun celebration out in San Diego this past week.
Speaking of that foreign substance crackdown, the Dodgers were named in a recent report as the team with the highest increase in spin rate. But it did not take into account the fact that LA added in high spin rate guys in 2021 and let low-spin rate guys walk in free agency. So…that’s odd.
Los Angeles surprised everyone this week by selecting the contract of Andy Burns. The journeyman utility player had his contract selected and they had to designate Dennis Santana for assignment.
Anytime Trevor Bauer says something negative about the league or Rob Manfred, you’re going to want to read it. His battle with the league is probably the nest thing about him.
And finally, you should read one MLB insider’s analysis of Mookie Betts’ down season. Mostly because Betts is sure to prove him wrong in the coming weeks.
