Dodgers News: Kershaw Shut Down and Urias Called Up
The Dodgers were expecting to welcome Clayton Kershaw back to the starting rotation in the next series against the St. Louis Cardinals being that he had a simulate game on Saturday the 16th. The Dodgers have struggled trying to fill the void that is Kershaw’s presence with pitchers like McCarthy, Norris, and even Ryu who was just placed on the DL again. Needless to say, the team is eager to have him back. Unfortunately, he will not be back as quickly as anticipated.
On Tuesday, it was announced that Kershaw’s recovery assignments would be shut down until his back pain completely subsides. This comes after he felt discomfort on Sunday following the simulated game.

With Kershaw being shutdown and Ryu back on the DL, the teenager, Julio Urias, will make his return to the majors! Urias was previously pitching in the bullpen for the OKC Dodgers and his last big league start came on July 4th. This was done as an attempt to save his arm but desperate times call for desperate measures.

Injuries is nothing new to this 2016 Dodgers team; however, the bright side is that we are still a competitive team that is first in the Wild Card! Once our health comes, there is no telling what this team is capable of. In the mean time, we here at Dodgers Nation simply hope for a speedy recovery for Kersh and a great outing for Urias!

I’ve been saying for some time now that Ryu is finished. Now he’s back on the DL. Cut your loses and get rid of him, if you can.
