Dodgers News: Lance Lynn Will Start Game 3 of NLDS, Per Dave Roberts

The Los Angeles Dodgers will have veteran RHP Lance Lynn start Game 3 of the NLDS, Dave Roberts confirmed to reporters on Monday.

When asked who would be making that start, Roberts said:

“I don’t see how it would be anybody outside of Lance (Lynn).”

Roberts has talked a lot about the track records being a big thing for him, and Lynn certainly has it. The 12-year veteran has seen it all in the MLB, including winning the World Series in 2011 as a member of the St. Louis Cardinals.

Lynn has appeared in 13 postseason series in his career, the most recent one coming in the 2021 ALDS with the Chicago White Sox. Overall, Lynn has struggled in October, sporting a 5-5 record with a 5.28 ERA in 27 appearances (eight starts).

He’ll hope to exercise some of those demons in Wednesday’s Game 3, though, in what will be a must-win game for LA whether they win Game 2 or not.

Lynn had a very rocky 2023 season but was much better following the trade to LA. In 11 starts in Los Angelex, Lynn went 7-2 with a 4.36 ERA, but continued to struggle with the home run ball.

If Lynn can limit the traffic on the bases and get through four or five innings for the Dodgers allowing three or fewer runs, it’ll likely be considered a win.

Roberts is trusting his veteran to pitch in one of the most important games of the season for LA, and potentially the most important one if they go down 0-2 on Monday night.

Let’s hope he can deliver.
