Dodgers News: LHP Justin Bruihl and Infield Prospect DFA’d Following Lynn, Kelly Trade

The Dodgers have officially announced the completion of the Lance Lynn/Joe Kelly trade, and made two corresponding moves to make room on the 40-man roster. Both LHP Justin Bruihl and infielder Eddys Leonard were designated for assignment.

Now that they’ve been DFA’d, the Dodgers can try to find trading partners for the two players. Both should generate some interest, especially Bruihl, who has a 4.07 ERA this season but had a 2.89 ERA in 2021 and a 3.80 ERA in 2022.

As for Leonard, it was a bit weird that he’s been on the 40-man for so long. In Double-A this season, he’s hitting .254 with 11 home runs and 44 runs batted in. The Dodgers will see if there’s a market for him, and if not and he clears waivers, they’ll be able to outright him back to the minors.

All in all, the Dodgers’ trade is officially complete, and Lance Lynn and Joe Kelly are officially on the team. Kelly, of course, is back with LA after a couple years in Chicago.

We’ll see what happens with Bruihl and Leonard on waivers, or if LA is able to find some trading partners.
