Dodgers News: Mookie Betts and Andre Jackson Activated Amid Flurry of Roster Moves

The Dodgers made a roster move on Thursday for the third straight day. This one had a lot of moving parts.

The Dodgers announced that they activated Mookie Betts off the paternity list, just ahead of their four-game series with the Cubs in Chicago. To make room for Betts on the active roster, the team optioned Yonny Hernández back to Triple-A.

However, that’s not all.

On top of that, RHP Evan Phillips was being placed on the paternity list, and the team was recalling RHP Andre Jackson from Triple-A.

Betts has been out for the last two games on paternity leave, as he and his wife, Brianna, were expecting their second child. He’s officially back with the team, though, as they get set for a four-get set against the Cubs.

With Miguel Rojas on the injured list and Chris Taylor banged up, the only active shortstop on the Dodgers roster is Luke Williams. However, on Tuesday, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts hinted at Betts potentially playing some shortstop when he returned, and that dream may become a reality very soon.

As for the other move, Phillips will be out for up to three days — just like Betts was. Jackson, who struggled before being sent down to Triple-A, is now back with the club.

Congrats to Mookie and his wife, Brianna, on their child! And congrats to Evan and his wife, Elizabeth, on expecting their child!
