Dodgers News: Mookie Betts Out of the Lineup for Second Day in a Row

For the second consecutive game, Mookie Betts is out of the lineup as he deals with a right ankle issue. Betts twisted his ankle late on Friday night while getting out of the way of a high and tight fastball.

With Monday being an off day, Mookie getting an extra day to rest and heal up just makes sense.

The blossoming utility man has come back down to earth a bit after a torrid stretch at the plate. Over his last 11 games, he’s hitting just .205 (9-44) after hitting .345 over the previous 36 games. He’s still taking walks but the power has disappeared over this cold streak.

Left fielder David Peralta is back at the top of the lineup on Sunday after going 0-4 on Saturday. Jason Heyward is in right field and Kiké Hernandez is at second base.

Mookie should be back in the lineup on Tuesday night as the Dodgers welcome the Oakland Athletics to Dodger Stadium.
