Dodgers News: Noah Syndergaard Still in the Picture for Andrew Friedman
If you follow the Los Angeles Dodgers even a little, you’re probably aware of the struggles that have faced the team all season, namely in the pitching department. The bullpen has been a real issue but the starters haven’t been much better, either. There is one player in particular that has had a rough 2023 season and his name is Noah Syndergaard.
Syndergaard has seen the worst start to his career, posting a 7.16 ERA on the season. He hasn’t pitched since early June after going on the injured list due to a blister issue but he seems to be possibly gearing back up.
Yes, I know that some fans may have forgotten about Syndergaard or at least wish that they could. But President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman hasn’t forgotten about Syndergaard and even went as far to say that he could still be in the picture to help the team win games.
“Right now we just have to get him healthy and then get him in positions to use his body more effectively,” Friedman said. “If we’re able to do that, I think we’ll see a real uptick in stuff and then a much stronger case that he can help us win a lot of games. If we can’t get him back, then obviously that’s more difficult.”

Whenever Syndergaard returns, he will have his work cut out for him to prove his worth. When he signed with the team over the offseason, he expected them to help him revitalize his career but instead it has gone the complete opposite way.
The Dodgers are hopeful that Syndergaard dealing with the blister issue and taking a prolonged leave of absence may be exactly what the veteran needed. Something wasn’t right with him and he needed some time away. Last month, Syndergaard spoke on what was going on with him and how he could fix things.
“I’m willing to try anything to fix this,” Syndergaard said

It remains to be seen what, if anything, the Dodgers could get out of Syndergaard as the season goes on. Maybe they get a version of him that can eat some innings and provide relief to the other arms every few days. But that is the best case scenario at this point. His future as a Dodger and in the big leagues is in question and remains to be seen.
