Dodgers News: One Time LA RHP Dennis Santana Heading to Twins

On Sunday, the Minnesota Twins claimed former Dodger, Dennis Santana, off waivers from the Atlanta Braves. Twins reporter Phil Miller tweeted out the news this morning:

The right handed pitcher played the majority of his career with the Los Angeles Dodgers before playing one season with the Texas Rangers from 2021-2022. In November 2022, Santana was then traded to the Atlanta Braves in exchange for cash considerations.

During his time with the Dodgers, the reliever failed to perform well and finished with a 6.48 ERA across his 40 2/3 innings. For the Rangers last season, Santana posted a 5.22 ERA, which is 24% below the league average.

The 25-year-old hopes to harness his potential in Minnesota to be a reliable force for their pitching staff. Despite the inefficiency that Santana has produced in years past, the Twins were willing to take a chance on Santana.

Minnesota has also been struggling in recent years, and they are hoping that Santana can be a big part of their turnaround this season. If he is able to refine his game and pitch to his potential, Santana could be a valuable asset for the Twins as they try to climb their way up in the AL Central division.
