Dodgers News: Padres Name Game One Starter Ahead of NLDS

The Padres are set to face the Dodgers in the division series after beating down on the Mets in Queens on Sunday night. That Wild Card series went to three games, meaning that San Diego burned through its top three starters in Yu Darvish, Blake Snell, and Joe Musgrove. With that in mind, the club quickly named its game one starter for the NLDS.

Mike Clevinger.

The man they call Sunshine struggled some this season, his first since Tommy John surgery in the 2020-2021 offseason. In 23 games, 22 of which were starts, the right-hander posted a 4.33 ERA over 114.1 innings pitched. He was left off the Padres Wild Card roster.

As for who he’ll be facing the Dodgers haven’t officially named their game one starter. However, all signs point to Julio Urias getting the game.

The 2022 NLDS starts tomorrow night in Los Angeles with first pitch set for 6:37 PM PT. Look for the broadcast on FS1.

  1. This is why you play for division titles, home field advantage, and byes. Last year the Dodgers tapped out as a wild card. Sherzer couldn’t even go at the end. And Buehler was tired as well. Now the table is properly set against a Padre team that the Dodgers owned all year long. Play ball.
