Dodgers News: RHP Michael Grove Exits Game vs Cubs Early with Apparent Injury

Not a bit of news Dodgers fans want to hear right now… or that the Dodgers can handle from a staff standpoint. Rookie right-hander Michael Grove was forced to exit his start against the Cubs in Chicago on Thursday night. No word on what the issue is but it seemed like something lower body at first glance.

Here’s what the scene looked like in the bottom of the 4th inning.

Here’s the pitch.

Mark Prior then eventually Dave Roberts and a trainer came out to check Grove on the mound at Wrigley Field and after a brief discussion, he walked off the field with the trainer.

Phil Bickford came on in relief of the starter with a 2-1 lead and runners on second and third with no outs. He quickly got a strikeout before a single tied the game. The Cubs would have taken the lead if not for a dart from right fielder James Outman (doing his best Mookie Betts impression) to nail the runner at home.

UPDATE

Grove left the game with a right groin strain.

More to come on how long he’ll be sidelined.
