Gale, 31, has appeared in 22 major league games for both the Padres and Dodgers and has a -29 wRC+ to show for it.
The Dodgers are reportedly showing interest in relievers like the Orioles’ Mychal Givens and Rangers’ Chris Martin and would most likely need to open up a few more roster spots to make room.
Rocky Gale was the perfect candidate to be booted off the roster because of his position and the presence of top catching prospects Will Smith and Keibert Ruiz on the Triple-A Oklahoma City roster.
This could mean a major roster move is on the horizon.
Always figured he was a place saver for some other player. He is a journeyman catcher. Lots of those knocking around baseball. I am sure he is a great person but good defense no contact.
He has minor league or college coach written all over him.
Yep. Got something brewing. This makes it official that Will is n number 3 on the depth chart with Ruiz next. But that spot on the roster–interesting. Does sound like someone from outside is coming in.
