Dodgers News: Tony Gonsolin Flirts with No-Hitter; LA Keeps Win Streak Intact

Not even an off day could throw the Dodgers off their rhythm. LA kicked off their seven-game road trip in Kansas City on Friday night in style with a 8-3 route to push their winning streak to eleven games. After failing to score a run in the first six innings, the Dodgers erupted for a five-spot in the top of the seventh and three more runs in the eighth to back a strong outing from starter Tony Gonsolin.

Gonsolin Sniffs No-Hitter

All-Star Tony Gonsolin was in fine form on Friday night. The righty carried a no-hit bid into the seventh innings, but Royals first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino broke it up with a one-out single in the bottom of the seventh. Pasaquantino would score later in the inning on a double from Michael A. Taylor. Gonsolin finished 6.2 innings with three strikeouts, three walks, and yielding just two hits.

Trayce Thompson Shines

After a pair of walks in the top of the eighth, Trayce Thompson crushed a home run to stake the Dodgers to a commanding 8-1 lead. It was Thompson’s fifth home run as a Dodger. The midseason pickup, who’s bat and glove have paid major dividends for LA this season, now owns a .866 OPS across 37 games.
