Dodgers NLCS: Joc Pederson Hits a Homer for Poppy
The Dodgers broke out in a big way in game 3 of the NLCS. Powered by a record-setting first inning, LA made a statement with 15 runs (!) on Wednesday night, with just about everyone getting in on the action (sorry, Chris Taylor).

While everyone contributed to the scoring in some way, the hitting star of the night might just be Joc Pederson. The much-maligned outfielder struggled with the bat while dealing with family issues along the way to turn in the worst season of his 6-year career. But, as we’ve seen so often in the past, October tends to be a new ballgame for Pederson.
With 4 hits in game 3, the Joctober tradition continued. Pederson ended his night going 4-6 with 3 runs batted in on one big-time home run. After the game, he let us know that his homer was for someone special.
I hit a homer for Poppy tonight.
Poppy Pederson, Joc and Kelsey’s daughter, turned 2 on Wednesday. Thankfully, all of the Pederson clan is in the Texas bubble for these playoffs.

That’s a pretty cool birthday present, and it was big enough for Dodgers fans everywhere. Moreover, Joc is now batting .556 in the playoffs with a 1.489 OPS. It was his 8th career postseason home run.
Happy birthday, Poppy!
