Dodgers Pitcher Alex Vesia Has Some Fun Training With Baseball YouTuber

YouTuber Dan Sarmiento, a 21-year-old who lives in Los Angeles, has created a channel to celebrate his passion for baseball. He has more than 168,000 followers and has made a ton of really fun videos.

In a recent clip, he traveled to the house of Dodgers reliever Alex Vesia to see how he trains during the offseason. Vesia spoke about the investments he’s made in his workout regimen, including creating a home gym for himself. He invites athletes from different leagues to work out and train with him.

“I’m gonna fully invest in a home gym. I have a couple of guys that come to work out with me too.”

— Dodgers pitcher Alex Vesia

Sarmiento went with Vesia to take on his first day of throwing to live hitters. He said he’d thrown bullpen sessions, but wanted to throw some pitches to real hitters. They went to Phoenix College for the training session.

Vesia and Sarmiento met up with a few former Dodgers, including left-handed pitcher Justin Bruihl and utilityman Zach McKinstry. McKinstry actually took Bruihl deep in their at-bat against one another.

Now in the Cincinnati Reds organization, Bruihl was with the Dodgers from 2021-23. McKinstry, currently with the Detroit Tigers, was in Los Angeles from 2020-22.

Once Vesia took the mound, he faced off against San Francisco Giants prospect Trenton Brooks, striking out the young outfielder. Vesia also faced McKinstry, getting him to the ground during their faceoff.

Vesia was given the surprise of facing Liam Holland from batboysbaseball, which was a cool moment for them all. Sarmiento then took the mound, giving Vesia a chance to be the spectator. He was able to reach his goal of hitting at least 83 mph.
