Dodgers Pitcher Named Potential Trade Candidate in 2025
Bobby Miller shined in his rookie season with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2023. But the right-handed starting pitcher struggled to overcome a sophomore slump that ultimately landed him back in the minor leagues last season.
Bleacher Report’s Joel Reuter suggests that Miller may benefit from a change of scenery. Reuter listed the 25-year-old as a potential trade option for the Dodgers in 2025.

Miller initially was in the running for the fifth spot in the Dodgers’ starting rotation. Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Blake Snell, Roki Sasaki, and Tyler Glasnow were shoo-ins, but Miller, Tony Gonsolin, and Dustin May were wildcards.
However, Miller took a line drive off the forehead in the Cactus League opener and never had enough time to ramp back up. A roster spot does not seem to be in Miller’s future, as the Dodgers decided to option him and infielder Hyeseong Kim to the minor leagues last week.
Miller has been unable to perform to the same level as he did in his rookie season. Reuter acknowledged Miller’s fastball velocity and spin rate both decreased from 2023 to 2024, and his ERA rose from a 3.76 ERA across 22 starts to 8.62 in 13 starts.
The Dodgers placed the former first-round draft pick on the injured list with right shoulder inflammation in April. Miller completed rehab assignments in May and June before Los Angeles optioned him to Triple-A in July.
Los Angeles recalled Miller in August, where he made six MLB starts before the Dodgers optioned him back to the minors a month later.

Despite his current struggles on the mound, Miller is still very young and should have a bright future of ahead of him. But the Dodgers might ultimately decide to part ways with Miller if a team wants to take a chance on the former top prospect in exchange for a position of more need.
