Treinen’s injury is likely why Evan Phillips is with the team in Arlington. Treinen was warming up in the bullpen during Friday night’s game against the Texas Rangers, but hasn’t pitched since April 13.
While he was warming up in the ninth inning last night, Treinen reported feeling additional tightness in his forearm.
Manager Dave Roberts announced Phillips will be activated from the IL. As for Treinen’s timetable to return, that remains uncertain until the veteran gets a scan.
However, Roberts did reveal he was “not too concerned.”
Treinen has a 3.38 ERA with 10 strikeouts across eight innings pitched this season. In 2024, the right-hander was one of the Dodgers’ most effective reliever.
Treinen sported a 1.93 ERA in 2024. He also recorded a 30.4 percent strikeout rate, 6.0 percent walk rate, and 44.7 percent ground ball rate in 46.2 innings.
The 36-year-old returned on two-year, $22 million deal this offseason.
“If I didn’t want to finish as a Dodger, I probably wouldn’t have signed here this year,” Treinen said this winter.
