Dodgers Postgame: LA Scores 12 Runs On San Diego, Led by Power Trio and El Culichi
After losing the past three straight (and they weren’t pretty) the Dodgers finally came out ready play on Saturday night. The team proved exactly why they’re the team to beat this year and not only won over the Padres but they absolutely terrorized them.
Dodgers bullpen gets it done on defense
Urias was on the mound today for the Dodgers and held San Diego scoreless until the sixth inning. Overall, he only allowed 2 hits, an error, 3 walks, and collected two strikeouts improving his overall record to 15-7 as well as improving his ERA to 2.29.
The 26-year-old from Mexico has become the frontrunner for the Dodgers pitching rotation as Kershaw has barely returned from his second IL stint of the season, May is still adjusting post-Tommy John, Buehler underwent season-ending surgery just last week, and Gonsolin took a trip to the IL too. It’s been a shaky one for the Dodgers bullpen but it seems like something is working still.
During Saturday night’s win, Craig Kimbrel, the closer who has had fans on the edge of their seat all season, gave out 2 K’s in his inning while allowing no hits or runs. It looks like things are finally starting to turn around for the veteran closer.
He was then followed by Hanser Alberto who started at 3B and was called to the mound in the ninth. After 8 appearances as pitcher, the 29-year-old infielder (if I may even call him that anymore) finally collected his first strikeout against Josh Bell.

Four homers, four players
After taking a well-deserved and very necessary day off for the first time this season on Friday, Trea Turner came back more ready than ever on Saturday. During his first plate appearance of the game, he hit a two-run homer to left center.
The next bomb came in the fourth inning. With two on, Mookie Betts smashed his 33rd home run of the season extending his season-best in home runs to 33. The team still has 30 more games left in the regular season. Betts went 3-for-4 on the night including a homer, triple, walk, 3 runs and 3 RBI.

Now up 6-0 (Freeman scored off a double by Will Smith in the third), it was Justin Turner’s turn to get in on the action. He knocked in a two-run homer for himself scoring Freeman as well.
The final homer of the night came from Will Smith in the bottom of the sixth inning scoring both Betts and Freeman as well to give the team the 12-1 advantage. Freeman had himself a night too going 3-for-3 with 3 runs, a walk, and an RBI.
The bats came alive for the Dodgers finally as they seemed frozen cold last night being held to only one run the whole night. The team scored a dozen runs off 13 hits and improved their overall record to 91-41.
