Dodgers: Reliever Jimmy Nelson Re-Signs with LA
It’s not going to make any headlines or create any push alerts, but the Dodgers did sign another free agent. According to a first-hand report by Fox Sports’ Pedro Moura, right-handed reliever Jimmy Nelson is back with the Dodgers.

The Athletic’s Fabian Ardaya verified that Nelson’s deal includes a club option for 2023. Ardaya also gave a rough timeline for Nelson’s return. The veteran underwent Tommy John surgery and had another procedure last summer.

In 2021, Nelson compiled an impressive 1.86 ERA and a 0.93 WHIP in 28 appearances (29 IP). His problem then, and his problem now, is that he can’t seem to stay healthy.
Nelson has proven that, when healthy, he can be an effective high-leverage reliever for the Dodgers. With a 162-game regular season ahead of them, there’s a chance that Nelson’s services will be required at some point.
