Dodgers Roster: Keibert Ruiz Recalled Ahead of Doubleheader
The Dodgers will play 2 today in the confines of Wrigley Field. One day after rain knocked out their hopes of playing, the NL West teams will go head-to-head for 14 innings starting this afternoon.
As part of MLB’s rules for doubleheaders, teams are allowed to carry one extra player on the roster for the day. The Dodgers have decided to call up catcher Keibert Ruiz for the day and he takes the spot of Mike Kickham. James Pazos had previously been called up, but that was for a potential Monday game.
That leaves one more open roster spot for the day for the Dodgers. The expectation is that they would go with another arm since it will probably be needed today. The good news is that they have Kershaw and Bauer on the mound today, 2 guys that could potentially go the distance.

For Dodgers fans, the arrival of Keibert is something many have been hoping for to help the stalled-out offense. Ruiz has long been thought of as one of the more impressive bats in their farm system but has not had the chance to breakthrough.
Ruiz homered in the first at-bat of his career in 2020 and tallied a total of 2 hits in 8 big league attempts. At almost 23-years-old, Keibert is no longer the young kid that was a long way away from the big leagues. The Dodgers might not have a need for him immediately, but they can’t keep him down for long.

Finally!
But chances are he will be sent out after today’s Double Header.
I would rather they send Rios down.
