Dodgers Roster: Los Angeles Should Get 3 Big Arms Back in August

The Dodgers need some arms to get them through over the next couple of weeks. That’s no secret to anyone in the league right now. Losing Daniel Hudson for the year only further magnified that need, and guys are starting to get worked pretty hard.

The extra-innings game only made this week even more difficult. The Dodgers had to use Brusdar Graterola again, who was supposed to be unavailable after throwing in the previous 2 games of the series. Luckily, Graterol shut the door on Atlanta in just 9 pitches.

But the good news is that help is on the way. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said this weekend that these 3 arms should return sometime in August, which would be very helpful.

Tommy Kahnle

It’s been a rollercoaster season for Kahnle in his first year actually playing for the Dodgers. He returned from Tommy John surgery only to get rocked in 4 games. He went back on the IL with a bone bruise in his right elbow. But when he does return healthy, he is expected to be a force out of the bullpen.

Victor Gonzalez

Victor has not thrown a big-league pitch since August of last year. He went down with an elbow issue that required arthroscopic surgery and shut him down. If he can get anywhere close to his 2020 form for the Dodgers, that would be a huge pickup.

Danny Duffy

Duffy came over to the Dodgers last season via trade with the Royals and never pitched a game. He had flexor tendon surgery in the offseason before re-signing with the team on a big-league deal. with an option for 2023. He is still working his way back and should also be ready to go sometime in August. His biggest upside is that he can provide a whole lot of length when they’re going to need it most.
