Dodgers Roster News: LA Makes First Cuts of 2023 Spring Training

The Los Angeles Dodgers have made their first cuts of spring training. They’ve sent nine players down to minor league camp, ending their run with the major league squad for now.

Here are the nine players that were sent down: Dylan Covey, Landon Knack, Robbie Erlin, Nick Nastrini, Bryan Hudson, Jordan Yamamoto, Nick Robertson, James Jones and Yusniel Diaz. The first eight are pitchers and Diaz is an outfielder.

This is their first round of cuts this spring. They didn’t see any of these players making an immediate impact on this team, so they’ll continue to work in the minor leagues, where they’ll start the 2023 season.

With all these guys gone, and some players leaving for the World Baseball Classic, Dodgers camp is going to be a little less crowded moving forward.

  1. So, here’s the question: Where does Andrew Friedman rank among the 30 field managers in MLB for 2023? Based upon his performance, including post season play, in 2022.

  2. Given how every year the Dodgers are scrambling to field a lineup and a rotation, and not win the Series, I’d give him a C+ and this year he’d be on “double, super, semi-final, probation”! Roberts I’d give a c- for far too many bone head rooster swaperoos and Russian Roulette style of setting a lineup. The club needs a shakeup in leadership and these two may be incapable of carrying it off effectively.
