Bruihl has had an up and down year in 2023. After starting off strong, he tailed off at the end of May, with his ERA ballooning to a 4.41. He was brought on the taxi squad with the unknowns regarding Clayton Kershaw’s injury, however, he didn’t come up for Kershaw.
Instead, he was recalled for Grove, who pitched five innings on Wednesday and allowed four earned runs at Coors Field.
Grove is now back in the minors, continuing his back and forth moves this season.
On the year in the Majors, Grove is 0-2 with a 7.54 ERA. He won’t be able to return for a few weeks unless someone gets placed on the injured list, so we likely won’t see him for a little while unless Kershaw ultimately gets placed on the IL. But let’s hope that’s not the case for Kershaw.
