Dodgers Roster: These 5 Players Will Make the Road Trip on the Taxi Squad

The Dodgers Opening Day lineup is set and they’re ready to go. After officially naming Scott Alexander as the last name in the bullpen, Dave Roberts has the guys that he will roll with to kick off the year.

Roberts also confirmed on Tuesday that there will be 5 players tagging along as part of the taxi squad. The Dodgers and teams around baseball are allowed to carry players with them on road trips in case of an injury.

On the first road trip of the season, the Dodgers will carry a few options with them. In terms of arms, they will have Garrett Cleavinger and Dennis Santana on hand. Santana was in competition with Alexander for that last bullpen spot. Cleavinger was optioned towards the end of Spring camp.

The Dodgers will also bring along Keibert Ruiz as a third catcher for this road trip. Ruiz went on an offensive tear in his few Spring Training games despite being a late arrival to camp. Outfielder DJ Peters will also be available should the need arise.

The final name on the taxi squad is still pending because Roberts could not remember who they had picked out when asked on Tuesday night. We will update you as soon as that final name has been released from the team.

  1. I hope the need doesn’t arise for Peters. Peters = Billy Ashley. Dude just can’t make enough contact.

    1. I’ve said that about Peters for a long time now. Peters at this time is the present day Billy Ashley and we all know why he hasn’t seen one pitch at the MLB level yet.
