Dodgers Rumors: Dodgers Have Strong Interest In Chase Headley

The trade deadline is 4 weeks and 3 days away and Dodgers are finally starting to try and make some moves. They find themselves in second place with Matt Kemp, Andre Ethier, Mark Ellis, and many other players on the disabled list.

The Dodgers made a splash in signing Yasel Puig, however he won’t be MLB ready this year.

They have a deal in place with the Astros for Carlos Lee + cash for Garrett Gould, pending Lee’s approval.

The Dodgers President Stan Kasten says that the team will be aggressive,

“I promise you we’ll explore everything,” Kasten said. “Look, as candid as we can be, we’re the Dodgers. We’re supposed to be big. We intend to be big. Will we look at big things? You bet.”

This brings us to San Diego Padres third basemen, Chase Headley. The Dodgers apparently “like Headley alot” according to reports and have already had contact with the Padres.

Headley is a 28 year old switch-hitter who’s hitting .273 with 8 HR and 38 RBI, making $3.4m this year.

He would be under team control until 2015, providing us with much needed stability in our infield for years to come.

The cost for Headley? I have no idea, but I can tell you that he won’t come cheap. He plays within the division and is under control until 2015, that’s going to cost us.
