Dodgers Rumors: MLB Analyst Predicts Shohei Ohtani Trade to LA

As Shohei Ohtani enters the market at the end of the 2023 season, the Dodgers will hope to land the pitcher and designated hitter in free agency. Many have speculated where the Angels’ star player will go, and one MLB analyst believes Ohtani will indeed be traded to the Angels’ cross-town rivals.

Brandon Scott of Bleacher Report wrote an article that predicted where top players will go following this upcoming season.

“The Dodgers sort of shock the world, but not really.

Ohtani-to-the-Dodgers predictions already exist, but it will still be a shock to the system to see him trade the other L.A. franchise’s colors for the legendary Dodger blue and white.

Adding Burnes and Ohtani would completely change the World Series conversation at the deadline.

Ohtani has already communicated his desire to play for a contender and has been non-committal to his long-term future with the Angels.

At spring training, Ohtani said he does believe the Angels are committed to winning. The question is whether it finally pans out.

As backbreaking as it seems to trade a once-in-a-lifetime player like Ohtani, it’s becoming more obvious he sees a brighter future elsewhere. One would also have to assume a trade package for Ohtani, commensurate with his rare ability, would be historic.”

Ohtani is playing on a $30 million contract and will be a free agent after the season. Despite Ohtani’s success, the Angels have struggled to put together a winning team around him which has led many to wonder about Ohtani’s future with the team.

The 28-year-old made his presence known as a rookie when he won American League Rookie of the Year in 2018. Since then, Ohtani has not let up; he has showcased his talents as a two-way player. He has continued to impress on both sides of the ball, earning himself a Silver Slugger award in 2021 and two All-Star appearances.

It would be a perfect fit for a dominant player like Ohtani to pair up with one of the most successful franchises in MLB history. He would give LA a unique weapon, so the Angels would likely want a significant return for Ohtani. With that being said, the Dodgers would then have to be willing to part with some of their top prospects or big players.

The potential trade has many fans excited about the prospect of Ohtani playing for the Dodgers, but whether or not the trade ultimately happens remains to be seen. For now, fans can continue to just envision what it would look like if Ohtani were to take his talents to LA.
