Dodgers Score: Game Updates vs Phillies on Wednesday, Rookie Debut, Odds, How to Watch and More
It’s debut day for can’t-miss pitching prospect Gavin Stone. The rookie right-hander toes the rubber at Dodger Stadium and faces Aaron Nola the defending National League champion Philadephia Phillies. Not bad for his first game! The Dodgers send out their A lineup against the 2018 NL All-Star right-hander.
Here’s a look at that, as presented by manager Dave Roberts.
After sitting against the left-handed starter yesterday, David Peralta and Jason Heyward are back in the lineup. Last night’s breakout star, Miguel Vargas, is at second base and hitting 7th. Mookie Betts is an outfielder again and Will Smith catches Gavin Stone in his debut.
Chris Taylor gets the start at shortstop and is riding a nice little streak with back to back 2 hit games and hits in 4 of his last 7 games (.320/.346/.560 slash over that stretch).

Pitching Matchup
Gavin Stone (0-0, 0.00 ERA) makes his MLB debut. In 6 starts at Triple-A this season, the right-hander has a 2-2 record with a 4.74 ERA. However, a lot of that damage was done during his first game of the season where he surrendered 6 earned runs amid harsh conditions and a tight zone with the electronic strike zone. Additionally, he only learned he would be making that start one day prior.
Since that game, he’s posted a much more respectable 2.86 ERA over 22 innings and has been on a tear over his last two outings, striking out 15 batting over 9.2 innings.
For Phillies ace Aaron Nola (2-2, 4.46 ERA), it hasn’t been the best start to his season with a higher than usual ERA and career-low strikeout rate. He’s pitched well against the Dodgers in his career, with a 2-0 record and 3.57 ERA over 7 starts.
