Dodgers Sign Outfielder Michael Conforto in Surprising Move

The Los Angeles Dodgers signed outfielder Michael Conforto to a one-year, $17 million contract, per MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand.

The Dodgers have found a left-handed hitter/outfielder in Conforto. However, it is believed that the Dodgers are still interested in signing Teoscar Hernández. It’s unclear how the signing of Conforto impacts the Dodgers’ pursuit of star outfielder Juan Soto.

Conforto, 31, has made 133 career starts in center field. In 2024, Conforto hit at a .237 clip with 20 home runs, 66 runs batted in, and a .759 OPS for the San Francisco Giants. Additionally, he posted the lowest single-season walk rate of his career (8.6 percent), but the highest full-season hard-hit rate (46.3 percent).

The outfielder has spent the last two seasons with San Francisco after signing a two-year, $36 million contract in Jan. 2023.

In 2022, Conforto missed the entire season because of a shoulder injury that required surgery. The  veteran had his healthiest season since then in 2024, in which he landed on the injured list briefly in May due to a hamstring strain.

Conforto was selected by the New York Mets as the 10th overall pick in the 2014 MLB draft. He quickly emerged as a reliable bat for the Queens organization when he made his debut in July 2015. Conforto played a pivotal part in the Mets’ playoff run, hitting a .333 average with two home runs in the 2015 World Series against the Royals.

In his first six seasons, Conforto slashed an impressive .259/.358/.484. Conforto was named an All-Star in 2017.

Conforto is just one of three players to have appeared in the Little League World Series (2004, Redmond North Little League), College World Series (2013, Oregon State) and MLB World Series (2015).

  1. Not real sure about this signing. It could be a stopgap for Andy Pages and Dalton Rushing. Hopefully we still sign Teo.

  2. Still waiting on the big Teo signing with the DODGERS. Hope they still have enough room for him. Need him more than anybody new.

  3. This hopefully is so they feel comfortable getting rid of Outman, and no trying to replace Kike. How tf does Kike not have a contract yet?!?

  4. It simple stop gap center fielder. Outman showed little rebound in minor league once sent down Pages can play Left field or. Platoon with left and centerfield. Taylor big money make it un realistic to sign Kiki I wish Dodger cut Taylor he crap but think they bring back Tescoar play left or right.

  5. I don’t really get it myself. Yeah, ok, he hits left handed. Quit with the screwing around and sign the Hernandez Bros.
