Dodgers to Trade Caleb Ferguson to Yankees: Report
The Dodgers have made another trade with the New York Yankees, this time sending left-handed reliever Caleb Ferguson out. The New York Post’s Jon Heyman was the first to report the news of the trade.
Left-hander Matt Gage will be going to the Dodgers as part of this deal. Heyman was the first to report his involvement in the deal.
Ferguson, 27, appeared in 68 games last season for Los Angeles. He posted an ERA of 3.43, a WHIP of 1.44 and a 10.4 strikeout rate over 60.1 innings of work.
With Ferguson now being traded, the Dodgers only have two left-handed relievers on their 40-man roster. That would be Alex Vesia and Ryan Yarbrough.
This trade of Ferguson does open a spot on the 40-man roster, so look for the front office to possibly add another lefty to the mix down the line.

This makes no sense at all. Caleb has been so loyal to LA and worked so hard to get back to them after his injury of his arm. This is in my estimation at stab in the back to Caleb. I feel the LA Mgr has always been disloyal to him. I hope he goes to NY and has a great season
Totally agree unless something else is in the pipeline?
Important to note that Ferguson’s elevated ERA came from the games where he was asked to start. In my view, Ferguson is one of the better bullpen lefties the Dodgers have had in quite a while and we will miss him sorely.
