Dodgers Top Prospect Has Wow Moment With Joe Kelly

Joe Kelly has been outright dominant since the start of June — and probably should be seeing some save opportunities for the Dodgers. Not only has Kelly tossed 10 scoreless innings over his last 11 appearances, he has done it with absolutely filthy stuff.

The second pitch in Pitching Ninja’s video should be illegal. That second pitch is so nasty, it made waves on social media, even trickling down to the Dodgers’ farm system.

Jeter Downs is the number 6 prospect in the Los Angeles farm system, per MLB. He’s in the middle of a fine season with career highs in home runs (23) and OPS (.896) between Single-A Rancho, and now Double-A Tulsa.

Joe Kelly’s 98mph 2-seam fastball was so wicked that Downs took to Twitter to hit us with that fire take.

Nah nah nah! This just ain’t right.

That’s pretty cool if a pitch can make a minor league shortstop ever so slightly question reality.
